Burns & McDonnell conducts ongoing, aggressive outreach efforts to source small and diverse suppliers. Examples:
- Ongoing host of quarterly Business "One on One" sessions in conjunction with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, providing a one-stop shopping venue for small/diverse businesses to meet individually with local, state and federal officials.
- 2010 sponsor of the Edison Electric Institute's Supplier Diversity Conference and panelist in a breakout session, "Energy Efficiency, Renewables and Smart Grid," and two Business Matchmaking Sessions.
- 2010 sponsor of the Missouri Women's Business Conference for Entrepreneurial Women, in conjunction with the Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Centers.
- Exhibitor at the 2009 Navy Gold Coast Conference in San Diego, where we became acquainted with the capabilities provided by small businesses in attendance.
- 2009 sponsor and exhibitor at the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce 30th Annual Statewide Convention in San Diego.
- Attendee at the Asian Business Association's 33rd Annual Awards Luncheon & Business Conference in 2009, followed by participation in the business "One on Ones" to learn about the capabilities of the diverse businesses in attendance.
- Hosted meeting of the Regional Small Business Liaison Officers.
- January 2010 and September 2008 participant in the business "One on Ones" sponsored by the Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council. Also exhibitor at the organization's Business Opportunity Fair.
- 2007 and 2008 exhibitor at the University of Texas-Arlington's Annual Government Procurement Conference.
- Exhibitor from 2005 through 2010 at the MidAmerica Minority Business Development Council's Business Opportunity Fair. Burns & McDonnell representatives co-chaired the event in 2007 and 2008.
- 2005 through 2010 exhibitor at U.S. Congressman Ike Skelton's Small Business Procurement Conference.
- Exhibitor at the Alliance South Small Business Procurement Fair in Atlanta.
- Ongoing corporate sponsorship since 2007 of Minority Enterprise Development Week in Nashville, Tenn., providing minority entrepreneurs with seminars on marketing and financing, networking opportunities and honoring disadvantaged businesses for their contribution to the nation's economy.
- Corporate sponsorship and planning committee work for Minority Enterprise Development Week in Kansas City, Mo.
