Making a Difference Together
Each year, as part of Burns & McDonnell's strategic approach to giving, we select a charity of choice. The selection process is extensive. The charity must have:
- Strong affiliation with one of our service markets or one of our officers
- Broad reach and strong relevance to our employee-owners
The selected organization becomes the focus of a multiple-month employee-owner campaign that involves both raising funds and service opportunities. In 2010, the devastating earthquake in Haiti prompted us to emphasize two organizations that allowed us to make an impact both locally and globally.
- By raising more than $75,000, we were able to finance the rebuilding of a home and school for 35 Haitian orphans through The Global Orphan Project. Two employee-owners traveled to Haiti to see the project in action.
- Employee-owners collected food and participated in volunteer efforts for Feeding America, which coordinates food banks in cities across the country.
Past organizations selected for our Charity of Choice include the American Cancer Society and its Relay for Life and the March of Dimes.
