Alert Crew Quarters
Location: Otis Air National Guard Base, Mass.
Client: National Guard Bureau
Completion Date: 2008
As a part of its Nationwide Vertical Construction IDIQ Contract, Burns & McDonnell is providing design services to develop a 6,500-square-foot Alert Crew Quarters to house aircraft pilot and maintenance personnel on alert status. The Alert Crew Quarters is to be located in close proximity to provide adequate response to the mission and within a secure perimeter.
The Alert Crew Quarters include offices, recreational space, kitchen/dining area, lockers and sleeping quarters with adequate levels of sound attenuation. The Alert Crew Quarters will include sitework to provide appropriate demolition of paving and utilities that may be within area, utility services (sanitary, domestic water, fire suppression water supply, natural gas, power and communications), and a secured perimeter. Access into the facility requires the construction of a Guard House with utility service.
In addition to the work associated with the Alert Crew Quarters, the project also includes phased construction of two complete 6,860-square-foot single bay F15 Aircraft Alert Shelters with fire suppression system in the shelter and the associated portland cement concrete apron paving.
