Avert Mine & Haul Road Permitting
Location: Missouri
Burns & McDonnell provided environmental permitting services for an Avert Mine and Haul Road project. This included wetland and NPDES permits as well as consultations with the State Historic Preservation Office and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Additionally, Burns & McDonnell provided a mitigation plan for an intermittent stream related to the mine project.
- Cultural resources survey
- NPDES permit (Mine and Haul Road)
- Agency coordination
The wetland permit application required submittal of a Nationwide Permit 14 for the Haul Road project and an Individual Permit for the Avert Mine project. The Nationwide Permit 14 was required because the proposed Haul Road crosses the Caster River. The Individual Permit was required because the potential impact to the intermittent stream exceeded the thresholds for a Nationwide Permit. Burns & McDonnell designed a mitigation plan required for impacting approximately 5,700 feet of intermittent stream. Wetland delineations were performed at the Haul Road and Avert Mine projects and were submitted with the application to the Corps of Engineers. The permit applications are currently under review.
