Henly 138-kV Substation

Burns & McDonnell provided engineering services related to the Henly Substation for Pedernales Electric Cooperative Inc. The Henly Substation project consisted of one 138-kV six-ring position bus (two breakers for this project and four breaker positions for the future), one 33MVA 138-kV/15-kV transformer, and one 15-kV distribution bay (one main and five feeder breakers).
Burns & McDonnell was responsible for the transmission line modification/interface, substation design, relay and control design, material lists, civil/structural design, project coordination, construction support, and construction records. The substation is designed for an ultimate configuration of four transformers and four 12.47-kV feeder bays. Burns & McDonnell was also responsible for coordinating with soil report, survey, site development erection and testing contractors.
The Henly 138-kV Substation is located between Johnson City and Austin, Texas. This site is served by a combination of all-weather, gravel dirt roads.
