Burns & McDonnell is assisting Williams Communications Inc. in obtaining all necessary environmental permits in support of construction and installation of William's proposed fiber optic telecommunications system project, which extends from Houston to El Paso, Texas, linking the cities of Austin and San Antonio. The communications system is being installed within existing right-of-way and will not require additional clearing.

Burns & McDonnell obtained information necessary for the preparation of appropriate permits/applications including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP). Staff archaeologists coordinated with the Texas Historical Commission in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The project is being managed under an expedited schedule with collaboration from Williams' survey, construction and right-of-way personnel.
