Maintenance Facility - Avborne
Client: Avborne Inc.
Burns & McDonnell provided design for a 225,000-square-foot wide-body aircraft maintenance facility for Avborne Inc. in Miami. The facility includes three hangar bays, each capable of supporting a 747-400 in a heavy maintenance configuration. One hangar bay is suited for painting aircraft and is equipped with mechanical systems for ventilation. All hangar bays are fitted with utility services to support service equipment at multiple locations, meeting heavy maintenance requirements.
Utility services were coordinated to support a variety of aircraft in multiple positions within each bay, making for optimal use of floor area. A two-story office/shop annex on the landside of the facility provides supporting maintenance shop functions and maintenance management functions, as well as corporate business functions. The facility also includes engine maintenance facilities, warehousing stores and material stores.
The facility allowed Avborne to triple in size and production, as well as provide 747 maintenance capabilities it previously could not offer. Burns & McDonnell provided all design services as part of a design construct team assembled to optimize cost and time.
