The master plan and facility program called for the design and construction of a campus to be phased. Complete buildout of the campus includes a new 48-bed hospital with room for expansion and two 60,000-square-foot medical office buildings. An important element in this decision allowed for one of two options:
- The entire campus to be built at one time
- Each component could be built in any order
Determination criteria included future demand for services and overall needs of the community and the surrounding area.
- Programming
- Master planning
- Architecture
- Interior design
- Landscape design
Phase One of the plan included completion of the first medical office building. Phase Two is the emergency department, completed in late 2007. Phase Three is a 48-bed full-service hospital with the capability of expanding to 192 beds, an HCA requirement. The second medical office building will be built when physician demand is appropriate. The final design envisions a central point of entry in a three-story atrium. This will allow retail space in the office buildings to have exposure to the atrium.
