Military Environmental Assessment (EA)
Location: Marietta, Ga.
Burns and McDonnell provided assistance to our client by completing a site selection study, an Environmental Assessment (EA), and final design and construction of an F-22 Component Paint Facility in Marietta, Ga. Our client proposed to modify and construct a mechanical and electrical annex adjacent to the existing B-3 Building at Air Force Plant No. 6. Modifications to the interior of the existing B-3 building were required to meet necessary paint facility standards.
Burns & McDonnell provided consultation on the best location for the new facility within the plant and subsequently completed a siting study for the project. We provided a comprehensive EA based on information provided by our client and existing permits. Environmental studies evaluated in the EA included land use, air quality, water resources, safety and health, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, socioeconomics, and hazardous materials and groundwater/soil contamination. Impacts associated with the paint facility were determined to be minimal due to its location on an existing Air Force Plant and its utilization of existing structures. Once a finding of no significant impact was issued, Burns & McDonnell provided final design and construction for the facility.
