Renewable Diesel Feasibility Study
Location: Louisiana
Client: Confidential
A refining client hired Burns & McDonnell to assess the economic and technical feasibility of a renewable diesel process and help evaluate various technology options. The feasibility stage of a project requires development of user needs and performance qualification criteria. The project team identified several critical items requiring better definition by the client prior to proceeding with the project — including pre-treatment options, rail access and tracking, and tie-in locations — that could have greatly impacted overall project scope, cost and schedule. Burns & McDonnell developed an equipment-based cost estimate and performed other key services, including resolution of open issues, process design, site survey, scope definition, piping and cost estimating.
