Water Supply Study & Design
Location: Sheboygan, Wis.
Client: Power Ventures Group
Completion Date: June 2004
Burns & McDonnell provided professional services to identify and evaluate sites, and provided development assistance and permitting for the installation of a peaking power facility in Sheboygan County, Wis.
As part of this project, Burns & McDonnell performed a water supply evaluation based on available published literature and data, designed a water supply well, and provided construction phase services including observation of well construction and testing of one 160 gallon per minute water production well at the site. This well, completed in dolomite bedrock of the Silurian-age Niagara aquifer at a depth of 500 feet, and one additional well planned for the site will be used to supply water for power plant operations.
Burns & McDonnell worked closely with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) to obtain numerous permits for the project, including a high-capacity water well permit. An important part of the groundwater supply evaluation was to assess potential impacts to area well owners. Burns & McDonnell provided public testimony before the Wisconsin Public Service Commission addressing this issue.
