Services for All Phases of Wind Development
The complexities of development range from energy forecasting to environmental concerns to transmission line permitting and construction.
Different skills are needed for every phase of the project.
You'll find them at Burns & McDonnell.
Seamless Project Delivery for Wind Development
The broad experience held by the multidisciplined teams within the 11 divisions of Burns & McDonnell will enable your wind farm project to get built and onto the grid.
When you select Burns & McDonnell for any stage of your wind energy project, you will benefit from our broad and deep understanding of the electrical utility industry. Our experience extends across all related fields: power generation, electrical transmission, power supply planning, system operations and maintenance, and other management arenas.
Because these resources exist in-house, all aspects of a single wind project can be delivered seamlessly and in the most cost-effective fashion. Read more about our wind energy services >
Wind Energy Economics Assessment
Burns & McDonnell recently completed a wind energy economic study and model for WPPI Energy. WPPI is sharing this information because it may be a helpful tool as the industry considers transmission of renewable energy from remote wind generators to load centers.
The study was designed to assist WPPI with the development of an economic model to assess the viability of transporting wind energy from wind-rich areas in the northern United States to eastern load centers. As part of this evaluation, WPPI was interested in obtaining a tool that would address whether it is it more economically viable to:
- Develop wind projects in wind-rich areas and construct the necessary electric transmission infrastructure to transfer energy from those projects to
load centers; or
- Develop wind projects near the load centers despite a less attractive wind resource in those locations?
- Energy forecasting and planning
- Preliminary design
- Environmental studies
- Regulatory permitting
- Land acquisition
- Transmission interconnection
