KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Burns & McDonnell announced that it has leased an additional 51,334 square feet of office space at a commercial building at 9201 State Line Road in South Kansas City.

The company now occupies all 144,278 square feet of the State Line Road building. The additional space will accommodate up to 450 employee-owners at the building. Currently, 300 employee-owners work at the building. Burns & McDonnell now leases or owns 558,000 square feet of office space in Kansas City. The firm has grown to 2,600 employees nationwide, including nearly 1,800 in the Kansas City area.

Burns & McDonnell’s newest practice group, the Healthcare & Research Facilities division, is redesigning the interior space on the fourth floor of the building and will occupy that space when renovations are complete. Led by Vice President and General Manager Rick Keeler, the Healthcare & Research Facilities group specializes in architectural design of healthcare, senior living, pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities. The firm’s Business & Technology Services group will move approximately 80 employee-owners to the State Line Road building in early 2008.

Burns & McDonnell first moved into the State Line Road office building in January 2007. The new lease will run concurrently with the existing five-year lease that was signed in late 2006. Jay Ruf, with First Scout Realty Advisors Inc., represented Burns & McDonnell in the transaction. The property owner was represented by Brian Johnson of Grubb & Ellis Co.
