Former AVP of Houston office, Leslie M. Duke, PE, will serve as manager of new regional office

DALLAS-FORT WORTH — Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company Inc. is pleased to announce that Leslie M. Duke, PE, associate vice president formerly of the Houston office, is leading the firm’s newest regional office in Dallas-Fort Worth as office manager. The Burns & McDonnell Dallas-Fort Worth office — located at 5605 N. MacArthur Blvd., 10th Floor, Irving, TX 75038 — will focus on energy services, aviation and facilities design, transportation infrastructure, water and wastewater, design-build construction, and environmental studies and permitting.

The new Dallas-Fort Worth office of Burns & McDonnell expands the firm’s Texas operations to better serve northern Texas region clientele, including long-standing client Lockheed Martin. Throughout the past decade, Burns & McDonnell has planned, designed and built several highly technical facilities at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co.’s Fort Worth, Texas, and Marietta, Ga., plants. Projects range from precision-controlled painting and coating facilities for F-22 and F-35 aircraft manufacturing to chilled water system and HVAC retrofits to employee cafeteria design.

Over the past decade, in her role as regional manager for the Transmission & Distribution Group in Houston, Ms. Duke grew transmission and distribution clientele from an initial one, CenterPoint Energy, to more than 40 industrial, investor-owned utilities and electric cooperatives. Ms. Duke and her staff have also successfully managed transmission and distribution projects for top refiners in Houston including ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and Shell in addition to Dallas-based Oncor, Oklahoma City-based OGE Energy Corp. and Austin-based Lower Colorado River Authority.

In her role overseeing Houston office operations as associate vice president, Ms. Duke grew the office to 156 full-time employee-owners with a remarkably low attrition rate. “It starts with people,” says Ms. Duke. “Once you have the talent, you focus on service.”

Ms. Duke earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Texas Tech University and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon. Ms. Duke is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
