Project Profile — Power Iowa Energy Center

Power Generation - Gas Turbine & Combined Cycle - Mirant Bosque Unit 4
Mirant Corp., Bosque Unit 4.

Alliant Energy’s Power Iowa Energy Center was a successful development effort, with Burns & McDonnell managing the project from beginning to end.

Burns & McDonnell served as multiple prime contractor for permitting, detailed design, procurement and construction management of the award-winning project.

In initial phases, Burns & McDonnell provided support for siting, due diligence, technical support and capital cost estimates for a 550-megawatt natural gas facility with fuel oil backup capability.

The facility was designed to incorporate two General Electric 7FA combustion turbine-generators coupled with two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and a common steam turbine generator operating in combined cycle mode of operation.
