Back in 1997, Matt was the very first intern in the Construction/Design-Build division. He loved being a part of the Burns & Mac team. The feeling was mutual — evidenced by his meteoric rise from intern to vice president within a decade. Today he manages a large team but doesn’t feel overwhelmed — thanks to the incredible talent of the people he manages and the support he feels from leadership.
Be willing to learn, be flexible, spend time in the field — and don’t confuse effort with results. If you’re hard-working and committed to growing personally, you’ll always feel supported here.
Matt almost passed up an engineering career to be a rock star. Seriously — his band was signed to a contract in Nashville. He even sported the requisite rock hairstyle, which he described as “like Hanson but worse.”
