When young Sam found himself fascinated by a neighbor’s makeshift flashlight in Hong Kong, he never dreamed one day he would build an electrical grid. When he followed his older sister to the United States, he never thought he’d end up owning a company. His first job may have been on an electronic manufacturing assembly line. But with hard work, a humble attitude and lifelong curiosity, he’s built a career keeping our vital infrastructure strong.
Electricity is what is driving the world, our economy, our modern civilization. As a substation engineer, that’s what I do every day. I have a contribution to this.
Sometimes it’s hard for Sam to believe he’s worked at Burns & McDonnell for more than two decades. As he says, “time flies when you are having fun.”
