Missouri House Minority Leader Mike Talboy will be joining Burns & McDonnell as the firm's first director of governmental affairs. He will serve as Burns & McDonnell's liaison with local, state and federal officials in the support of the firm's related business units.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri House Minority Leader Mike Talboy will be joining Burns & McDonnell as the firm's first director of governmental affairs, effective June 4. Talboy will serve as Burns & McDonnell's liaison with local, state and federal officials in the support of the firm's related business units. Talboy recently announced that he will not seek a fourth term in the Missouri House.

"We are excited to have Mike join our team," said Burns & McDonnell Chairman and CEO Greg Graves. "As we have grown, it has become increasingly obvious that we need to be more proactively engaged with the legislative process at all levels of government. Mike has been an excellent representative for his constituents and Kansas City as a whole. With his grasp of the complex and important issues facing governments not only here in the Midwest, but around the country, Mike will help Burns & McDonnell be a more effective advocate for the solutions our clients need."

Talboy has served in the Missouri House since 2006, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become the top-ranking Democrat after his fourth year in office. He has been involved in local and national politics since 2001.

"Mike has always been great to work with even when we disagree," said Missouri House Speaker Steven Tilley. "He is a straightforward communicator and has always worked well with all sides of an issue to break through impasses and find consensus. Burns & McDonnell will benefit a great deal with his addition to their company."

Before joining Burns & McDonnell, Talboy was an attorney at Polsinelli Shughart in Kansas City. Talboy received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2000 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and in 2002 received his Juris Doctorate degree from UMKC.

"I could not be happier to join Burns & McDonnell," Talboy said. "The commitment they have to the state, our city, our communities and the people of Kansas City is without question. This is a company with endless potential and I am honored they have asked me to help play a role in building its future."
