ATLANTA — Burns & McDonnell's Southeast regional office and its 75 employee-owners earned the 2015 American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia's Engineering Employer of the Year. The award honors the firms and agencies that have contributed to the engineering industry through the planning, design and implementation of critical projects, through the cultivation of talented professionals, and through the advancement of the profession via community involvement and education. Burns & McDonnell and its employer-owners in the metro Atlanta office were selected in the "Midsize Company" category.
"When every employee is invested in the company as an owner, it creates a different kind of environment in which to work," said Arnold Olender, vice president and Southeast regional office manager. "There's a sense of shared responsibility and teamwork that comes from owning the company, and it makes a noticeable difference in how we treat each other, how we approach our work, and the results we strive for with our clients."
Burns & McDonnell's Atlanta regional office is an award-winning architecture, engineering and construction service office with a focus on aviation, aviation fueling, military facilities, aerospace and industrial manufacturing, municipal water and wastewater, and electrical substation design. Within the past year, the number of employee-owners has grown five percent in Atlanta, continuing a trend of positive growth and recognition over the past decade. Beyond the walls of the office, the regional team invests time in local community events, including Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Rivers Alive! and STEM programs for middle school and high school students.
