Retirements of traditional generating resources and the challenges of developing gas resources in the Northeast — combined with state renewable power goals — are driving the buildout of this untapped resource. We provide a strong, multidisciplinary approach to this market, with a comprehensive knowledge of these regional challenges and other drivers of offshore development.
Through key partnerships and in-house resources, we source, fabricate, produce and assemble steel, concrete and electrical components for individual U.S. offshore wind projects.
Our diverse workforce delivers the spectrum of services and skillsets that is required to manage the complex and expansive needs of offshore wind projects. From funding assessments and interconnection studies to conceptual design and program management, our deep experience in the electrical power transmission market enables us to evaluate, plan and construct these projects with a comprehensive eye.
We engage and collaborate with developers, utilities, manufacturers and other stakeholders to provide key project solutions, including complete electrical system design from turbine to grid connection. Our team is working with state officials, local trade associations, universities and developers (as well as local, regional, national and international partners) to build the supply chains needed to sustain and support the growing offshore wind market.
While the market is in the early stages in North America, we are engaged in ongoing offshore wind projects that demonstrate our skillsets in key areas. Our work has included new and updated onshore substations and overhead/underground transmission lines, offshore export cables with voltages from 66-kV to 275-kV, interconnection stations with voltages from 69-kV to 345-kV, and station ratings from 135 megawatts (MW) to 840 MW. We have also undertaken interconnection studies, system analysis reviews and grid connection analysis. Our environmental permitting and ports and harbors teams are also engaged in the sector.
We provide full engineer-procure-construct (EPC) services for electrical delivery components of these projects, as well as program management, construction management and other traditional delivery methods for the balance of the project, adaptable to fit individual project needs. Our industry-recognized tools for supply chain management and project controls are used to manage the largest, most complex projects in the power industry today.
