2018 No. 2

Our goal, day in and day out, is to manage projects, schedules, costs and outcomes to the best of our ability. But all that can change when Mother Nature steps in. Our people, customers and communities are feeling the effects — at home and at work — of more frequent natural events, as hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, earthquakes and drought wreak havoc across the globe. While we can’t control Mother Nature, we can better prepare for and clean up after any severe event. From drought contingency planning to smart technology tactics, our water professionals are wading through innovative possibilities to save their cities from too much or too little water. The same proactivity and passion applies to the power industry. When it comes to possible power disruption, maintaining or quickly restoring it brings security and resilience during hectic times. We're also looking at how to build better above ground, as well as below by pinpointing potential problems now that will safeguard our natural gas pipeline network when it counts. Regardless of what comes our way, we're ready to handle whatever nature's next move.
