The MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report achieves the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) B application level, an increase in scope from last year's C application level report.
With the assistance of Burns & McDonnell, this summer MillerCoors-formed in 2008 as a joint venture of SABMiller plc and Molson Coors-released its fourth sustainability report, its first published exclusively online. The MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report achieves the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) B application level, an increase in scope from last year's C application level report. The report focuses on MillerCoors responsibility, environmental stewardship, supply chain, people and communities, and ethics and transparency.
"This report successfully achieves our goal of creating a stronger connection using digital communications to showcase a great company behind great beers," says Kim Marotta, sustainability director at MillerCoors. "Burns & McDonnell captured our stories — stories that foster those connections and enhance the value of our corporate sustainability reporting strategy."
To engage the report's primary audience of employees as well as the company's distributors, consumers, suppliers and other stakeholders, the MillerCoors 2012 Sustainability Report features user interactivity through responsibility pledges and educational quizzes. Additional information is provided throughout the year through rotating content that will be featured on the website.
"This report is significantly more substantive than prior years, including more data and discussion of both successes and challenges," says Bart Alexander, chief corporate responsibility officer at Molson Coors Brewing Co. "MillerCoors and Burns & McDonnell have created content that really engages our readers. Well done."
On a compressed timeline, Burns & McDonnell assisted MillerCoors in developing report content, verified the report's GRI application level and advised content direction of associated marketing collateral. The public relations team at Olson coordinated the project as MillerCoors' strategic communications partner, Laughlin Constable designed the online platform, and Curran & Connors designed the printed marketing collateral.
