Burns & McDonnell, in association with Dar Group, completed space programming for the hangars, shops, warehouse, administration and support areas for more than 5.4 million square feet (500,000 square meters) of building area, and extensive aircraft ramp and taxilane layouts. The Burns & McDonnell scope of work included programming and preliminary design to define building layouts, area sizes, number of hangar bays, equipment in the hangars, shops, and warehouse and site development. Using the design-build delivery method, the project has been awarded, and expedited final design of the first phase is in progress based on the comprehensive preliminary design package prepared by Burns & McDonnell. The first phase of the $2 billion complex represented approximately 65 percent of the final development.
