- Aircraft Maintenance Unit
This plan provides the basis of design for the construction of a new aircraft maintenance unit (AMU) facility and modifications of Building 869 in support of the 5th AMXS mission at Minot Air Force Base. The facilities will be programmed to provide support to the expanded AMU mission, providing support to the 23rd and 69th Bomber Squadrons.
The facilities are designed to comply with current codes in fire protection, accessibility, electrical, plumbing and other systems and meet Anti-Terrorism Force Protection and sustainability guidelines.
The user support areas are designed to be inviting, functional and versatile. Foot traffic and comfort features are enhanced with natural light, functional space distribution and sustainable features such as energy efficient lighting fixtures, renewable materials, geothermal heating and ventilation systems, and water reduction and water conservation bathroom fixtures.
The exterior appearance is architecturally treated to reflect the end user's functions as well as the building's relationship with existing facilities along Flight Line Drive. A new parking lot will be adjacent to the facility and accommodate 160 vehicles.
The facility is designed to achieve LEED NC Silver certification.
