- Blue Canyon Wind Farm
Burns & McDonnell designed the collection system, substation and transmission of 100 megawatts (MW) of wind power generated at Blue Canyon Wind Farm in Comanche County, Okla. With 66 wind turbines, Blue Canyon Wind Farm has its own collector substation that gathers power for the individual wind turbine generations via four 34.5-kilovolt (kV) feeders. At the collector substation, the 34.5-kV power from the wind farm is stepped up to a transmission voltage of 138 kV. From the collector substation, power is sent through approximately 2.5 miles of overhead transmission to an interconnection substation where it connects to the Western Farmer's Electric Cooperative power system.

Burns & McDonnell designed, specified and supported construction for a 100-MW wind farm with four 34.5-kV underground collection feeders.
138-kV Transmission Line
Burns & McDonnell designed, specified and supported construction of one 2.5-mile section of 138-kV, single-circuit transmission lines.
34.5-kV/230-kV Collection Substation
Burns & McDonnell designed, specified and supported construction for an approximately 100-MW, 138-kV radial bus substation with major equipment consisting of a138-kV breaker, a 34.5-kV/138-kV breaker, a 115 MVA step-up transformer, a 35-kV switchgear line-up and switched capacitor bank.
138-kV Interconnection Substation
Burns & McDonnell designed, specified and supported construction for a 138-kV, three-position ring bus substation with major equipment consisting of three 138-kV breakers.
