The University of Kansas Hospital has a big vision for a major expansion effort — a 1.2 million-square-foot replacement hospital on a 14-acre greenfield site. We're on board as a subconsultant to Cannon Design, working as the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and fire alarm systems engineer for the project, which is in its first phase. The eight-story Cambridge North Tower includes 12 operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, 92 ICU and acute patient beds, kitchen/café, pharmacy, administrative offices and support spaces. The existing central utility plant will also be upgraded to support the new facility. The project was developed completely in Revit BIM software.
