The goal of this project was to identify the anthropogenic perturbations among multiple potential impacts to three Areas of Special Biological Significance (ASBS). The study used a multiple-lines-of-evidence approach to identify impacts to the ASBS, including water quality monitoring, multiple species toxicity investigations, bioaccumulation assessments using caged mussels, and identification of other anthropogenic impacts on the rocky intertidal habitat, including trampling from tidepool visitors, fishing activity and animal collection. Recommendations based on the study have led to implementing best management practices designed to reduce trampling impacts.
