- Condenser Isolation Valve Clearance Confirmation
Our team provided professional services for the review and evaluation of clearances on two new large-diameter butterfly valves at the inlet and outlet of the Oak Creek Units.
The client purchased new inlet and outlet isolation valves for each of its unit condensers to replace the existing leaking louver damper type valves. Due to the unique geometry of the existing pipe fittings leading from below grade, through the concrete slab and into the condensers, WE Energy was concerned that the new valves would not clear the fittings and open completely.
We modeled the existing piping geometry and new valves to identify interferences and provided recommendations for piping modifications. The models were created and animated to show potential impact zones and the internal interference reports were run in the modeling program to verify any interference. The results of the evaluation were that there were no interferences and the new valves would open as designed.
