Burns & McDonnell performed security design services for the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha, Qatar. This facility has approximately 1 million square feet of floor area and four levels. Security features include an integrated command and control center, housing the security operations center, fire command center and building management center.
The security system requires full network convergence of the access control, closed-circuit television (CCTV), radio-frequency identification (RFID) and building management system, and monitoring of the fire detection system within a single operations console. The operations console consists of dedicated workstations, a video display wall, monitoring of more than 500 CCTV cameras and more than 1,100 access points, and provisions for high security and multi-threat level operations.
Perimeter access control includes a two-lane vehicle checkpoint utilizing license plate readers, bollards, under-vehicle scanning and cargo scanning.
