To upgrade its system, the utility focused on four 3,900-kW Tier 2 diesel generators and a pre-engineered metal building to house them, 4,160-V paralleling switchgear, electrical control panels, and associated mechanical and electrical equipment. Modifications to existing 4,160-V plant switchgear were needed, along with a new cable trench to connect the paralleling switchgear to existing plant switchgear.
We provided detailed design, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection and electrical design. The electrical design included oneline diagrams, panelboard schedules, connection diagrams, grounding drawings, underground raceway drawings, cable tray drawings, lighting drawings, a cable schedule, master device list and protective relay settings.
We prepared specifications for electrical equipment and provided electrical testing specifications, startup management and performance testing. We partnered with the utility to develop outage schedules supporting switchgear modifications, electrical tie-in and final function testing.
