- F-22 Flight Simulator - Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam
The 23,842-square-foot flight simulator is the second facility designed by Burns & McDonnell in support of the F-22 base development program at JBPHH. The simulator provides the 199th Fighter Squadron with secured space for flight simulation and multi-media pilot training. The new training facility accommodates both secure and non-secure requirements, with separation and daylighting provided by a high clerestory linear corridor. The non-secure administrative area has demountable wall partitions to provide flexibility for growth and reconfiguration. The secure area is comprosed of four rooms supporting four full mission simulators, secure briefing and debriefing rooms, and a systems maintenance area. Classified information is openly stored on more than 50 specialized computers and PCs within the secure area, which is a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) to meet the strict requirements of DCID 6/9. The facility, designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, includes photovoltaic systems on the roof and in the parking lot, contributing to a 55 percent energy cost savings.
