Designed for LEED Silver certification, this $65 million, first-of-a-kind hangar provides 165,000 square feet of general purpose maintenance space for three KC-46A Pegasus aircraft with associated shops, administrative and personnel support areas. The aircraft hangar bays have a clearspan of approximately 205 feet with a clear height of more than 65 feet, accessed by vertical lift fabric doors. In-floor utility pits are located at the nose of each aircraft position and provide 400 Hz, 480v and 120v power and compressed air for a safe work environment. Fire protection for the hangar bays includes low-level high-expansion foam generators supplemented by overhead fire sprinklers. Site development includes new tow-ways, expansion of the existing apron, utility upgrades, improvements for storm water management and improvements to flightline security measures.
