We created an integrated resource plan (IRP) identifying the potential economic impacts of decisions various supply-side and demand-side resources. The IRP considered a wide variety of shutdown decisions, retrofit options and new resource alternatives. The integrated resource planning process was used to provide strategic direction for the utility over the 20-year study period. The objective of the analysis was to determine a preferred generation portfolio throughout the 20-year study period that performs well against a variety of metrics and market conditions.
Integrated resource planning
Regulatory review and environmental compliance
Power supply planning
Site study and site review
The objective of many of the analyses was to develop medium- and long-range resource portfolio decisions under a variety of potential future scenarios considering future regulation, customer load requirements and other strategic factors.
Our team performed a technology assessment to help evaluate resource alternatives. Technologies included renewables, energy storage, simple cycle gas generation and combined cycle gas generation. A Siting Study was conducted to determine potential sites for new generation resources.
The results of the analysis process and results were presented at a series of public stakeholder meetings in order to solicit feedback and input from Vectren’s customers and stakeholders. Stakeholders included but were not limited to Vectren residential, commercial and industrial customers, regulators, elected officials and customer advocacy groups and Vectren shareholders.
Upon completion of the study, we wrote a formal report with recommendations to be filed with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Council. Ongoing testimony and filing support is provided.
