This $56 million, award-winning facility provides training for all Air Force maintenance personnel and the first generation of Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps pilots on all F-35 variants. The 252,000-square-foot Academic Training Center (ATC) includes 75,700 square feet of special access program facility (SAPF) space. Pilots and maintainers train in complete virtual environments in the facility's 10 full-mission flight simulators, multiple weapons systems trainers and various aircraft mock-ups. The facility also includes more than 20 instructor-led classrooms, interactive courseware workstations, secured courseware development centers, a 225-seat auditorium, and student support and administrative space. This project received the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Merit Award for Concept Design in 2009.
The JSF ATC is LEED Silver certified. Energy and water consumption were reduced by 38 percent and 43 percent, respectively.
