- Long-Range Intermodal Transportation Plan
As a part of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) Long-Range Intermodal Transportation Plan (LRITP), our team implemented various stakeholder outreach and public involvement efforts to provide a proactive and inclusive outreach plan during the statewide planning process. The communication efforts focused on two-way communication to give stakeholders the opportunity to learn about and provide input. The team used scenario-based planning to help ARDOT staff and stakeholders think about future transportation implications and how to address these implications in the long-range plan.
To kick off the effort, we facilitated a scenario planning workshop with ARDOT staff. To hear about the needs of stakeholder organizations across the state, the team also conducted one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders.
After initial goals were developed, the team organized a series of public meetings across the state to gather public feedback about the goals. To publicize the series of public meetings, the team developed newspaper ads, meeting flyers and press releases, while also contacting organizations to reach additional stakeholders. Preparation for public meetings included the development of internal and external surveys, display boards with information about the LRITP, meeting handouts and comment cards to record feedback from the public.
Our team will lead additional online and in-person outreach efforts as the project progresses.
