- Mercy Way Bridge & Corridor Improvements
The City of Bella Vista hired our team to design widening improvements to Mercy Way from U.S. 71 to Dartmoor Road. The project includes widening of the roadway and a five-span bridge over Little Sugar Creek.
We are providing a variety of services, including environmental documentation, traffic studies, surveys, geotechnical studies, hydraulic studies, roadway and bridge plans, right-of-way plans and bidding services, as well as the agency coordination and public involvement necessary to prepare a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document.
A previous study performed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) indicated that an unusually high number of crashes occur at the intersection of Highway 71 and Mercy Way. As the project team accounts for the physical requirements of the widening work, they are also exploring ways to improve safety and traffic operations at both intersections bounding the project and improving the aesthetic appeal of this highly visible corridor and gateway into Bella Vista.
This project involves Federal-Aid Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP)-attributable funds received through the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission. Therefore, all work will be reviewed and approved by ARDOT. In addition, all work and contract requirements will conform to requirements of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
