- MPRP Asset Management System
As the program manager for Central Maine Power’s Maine Power Reliability Program (MPRP), a transmission line and substation program, we were asked to implement and host a customized version of a web-based asset management system (AMS) to support the design, construction and energization of 55 new and upgraded substations. The AMS is used by the program manager, the client, participating engineering firms and subcontractors to manage the materials necessary for the project.
During the design phases of MPRP, various engineering firms used the AMS to build bills of materials necessary to support their substation designs. Materials are selected from a master stock coded material list provided by Central Maine Power’s SAP system and integrated with the AMS. When a material is not available in the stock coded list, users create nonstock materials that are reviewed and approved for use. Material lists are submitted for review and approved for procurement using the AMS workflow. In addition to the workflow, various status reports run nightly, delivered via email.
Information inventoried, tracked and managed in the AMS is also shared and integrated with other systems. Materials information captured in the AMS is shared with the client's ratings application to determine appropriate ratings for a substation design. In addition, keysheet information created in the AMS is integrated with Central Maine Power’s SAP system for future operation and maintenance.
