- MPRP Outage Management System
As part of the Maine Power Reliability Program (MPRP), we were asked to create a database-driven outage management system (OMS) to manage all activities and responsible parties beginning 36 weeks before any planned outage. The OMS was a critical need for this major program because traditional outage planning methods using Microsoft Excel were insufficient.
The OMS was also integrated into Central Maine Power’s processes by generating and delivering the application-for-outage in an electronic format consumable by the company's internal application tracking system. Multiple reports were provided including reporting for the Independent System Operator (ISO) New England.
Reporting in the OMS provided users with an easy and intuitive ability to analyze and report to ISO New England. Each month, users could generate a report showing actual performance of outage applications and a comparison to ISO New England performance metrics. The reporting capability helped Central Maine Power meet ISO New England reporting requirements in a timely and cost-effective way.

Burns & McDonnell was the program manager for Central Maine Power’s MPRP, a major transmission and substation program. The program's scope included the addition of five greenfield substations, six brownfield substations, and forty-seven remote-end substations. Making the scheduled, planned outages and regulatory reporting to ISO New England were critical.
