As the world’s largest medical complex, Texas Medical Center has significant — and mission-critical — heating and cooling needs. Burns & McDonnell designed a control and command center that makes the cooling system supporting the medical center the largest in the U.S. The control room features 24 flat-screen monitors displaying system characteristics, remote-mounted processors for restricted access, expandable data center, custom consoles with integrated power/data raceways, and fully redundant power and data systems. An adjacent situation room offers a high level of functionality in emergency situations, with multiple data and voice outlets, satellite phone connection and cable television outlets. A break room supports normal operations and emergency situations.
