- Readiness Center Commissioning
Burns & McDonnell provided professional services for the Connecticut Army National Guard and the National Guard Bureau to support the planning, design, acquisition and construction management for a new aviation readiness center at the Connecticut Army National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility. Responsibilities included the development of two-phase design-build solicitation documents and assistance with the selection and evaluation of design-build contractors. Additional services provided include construction management, commissioning and sustainability review to ensure the facility achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.
- State-of-the-art facility capable of using technology to create an effective work environment, including personal control of immediate environment, intelligent building control systems, security and telecommunications systems.
- Sustainability features allowed the facility to achieve LEED Silver certification. Energy-efficiency measures incorporated include: cool roof, improved envelope, innovative high-efficiency mechanical systems, renewable energy and high-efficiency lighting. Additionally, reducing water use, improving indoor environmental quality and using building materials with recycled content, locally manufactured products and cradle-to-cradle products.
- A flexible and adaptable programming scheme to ensure that future missions of this installation will not incur high renovation costs to meet new demands.
