Burns & McDonnell provided civil and electrical consulting as well as on-site representation for the reconstruction of Runway 18L-36R, Taxiway T and portions of Taxiway S. The runway and taxiways were reconstructed due to durability issues in the concrete aggregate and to adjust the geometry to account for larger aircraft. Burns & McDonnell was the lead electrical designer and assisted in the civil design. The project required new LED lighting for all runway center line, edge and touchdown zone lighting. Phasing considerations included coordination and limitations on equipment height and construction performed within the jet blast area of Runway 9-27. Burns & McDonnell also took part in the FAA Safety Risk Management analysis.
Runway 18L-136R: 10,000 feet long by 150 feet wide
Each taxiway: 75 feet wide for the length of the corresponding runway
