- Security Assessment of Generation Facilities
Burns & McDonnell conducted physical security site assessments of hydroelectric, natural gas, coal and wind energy generation facilities in a number of locations for a utility in the Northwest. The evaluation included physical and electronic security features at each site as well as the overall security program.
The security assessments included physical site tours of generation sites to identify corporate critical assets and conducted formal and informal interviews with site personnel about current operations, concerns, and potential hazards and impacts. The project also included coordination with local, state and federal law enforcement intelligence officials to develop a detailed picture of threats to the utility's sites from a regional perspective.
At the conclusion of the project, we delivered separate comprehensive security assessment reports for each site, identifying security areas of improvement that best fit with the current posture. The reports included findings, options for mitigation and rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates of the recommended security improvements. Lastly, we provided a project summary presentation to corporate security and executive members. The project was completed on time, on budget and the quality of deliverables exceeded our client’s expectations.
