- Strategic Transportation Planning
We led a consultant team to provide innovation and strategic planning services to the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) in the following areas:
Innovation Task Force — We facilitated the agency’s first-ever Innovation Task Force, which is focused on challenging NDOT to see transportation from external perspectives and learn from other organizations’ best practices.
Stakeholder Outreach and Strategic Communication — The project team developed a collaborative outreach approach to seek input on the expansion of NDOT’s capital improvement project prioritization process to include economic analysis and more stakeholder input. The team facilitated two rounds of stakeholder meetings across the state to seek input on the prioritization process and identify candidate projects, and provided communication services, including an interactive website. More than 1,000 stakeholders participated in the engagement process.
Guiding Principles — NDOT’s guiding principles are to be entrepreneurial, engaging and empowering. To support these principles as the agency implements a culture of innovation, the consultant team worked with internal groups to vet ideas, develop recognition programs, and focus on skill development. These efforts required a culture change to embrace and implement innovation and modernization in business practices and interaction with stakeholders.
Program Management — We provided program management services related to economic impact analysis of candidate projects and the development of an Economic Opportunity Program.
