BREA, California — Burns & McDonnell has expanded operations in Orange County, increasing its office space by nearly one-third to accommodate its growing team.

“Our growth reflects our success in helping clients develop 21st century solutions,” says Renita Mollman, vice president and general manager for Burns & McDonnell in California. “Whether it’s helping clients navigate environmental regulations or designing a new airport terminal, we’re laser focused on delivering a solution that addresses the increasingly complex challenges our clients face. The key is to hire top-notch talent and that requires creating an office environment that encourages innovation.”

In September 2017, Burns & McDonnell relocated within Brea to its current 38,277-square-foot office at 140 S. State College Blvd. To accommodate its continued growth, Burns & McDonnell renovated and equipped an additional 12,000 square feet on the first floor of its current space. The new area will include the addition of 66 new workstations and three new conference rooms. The renovations were completed in November. With this new expansion, the firm has nearly doubled its Orange County-based office since 2017.

Burns & McDonnell, which has already grown its California-based team to more than 220 full-time associates in Brea, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, plans to continue hiring engineers, scientists, construction professionals and consultants to support clients like Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Port of Los Angeles. The growth in California reflects the firm’s overall nationwide growth, now averaging more than 1,000 professionals annually.

Recently, the firm joined clients and partners to cut the ribbon on its new office in downtown Los Angeles, which will allow Burns & McDonnell to create up to 20 new jobs by 2023. Burns & McDonnell has played a role in statewide efforts to realize a zero-carbon future. The firm recently announced it was selected to develop a road map for an all-electric vehicle fleet infrastructure system and in-depot charging station for Foothill Transit, allowing the environmentally friendly transit agency to convert to a 100 percent all-electric bus fleet by 2030.
