OAK RIDGE, Tennessee — To support new and ongoing projects in the region, Burns & McDonnell is opening a new, permanent office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, slated for completion this fall. The 100% employee-owned engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting firm plans to add 20 employees at this office, including hiring from local universities, within the next two years.

The firm’s new 4,000-square-foot office space, located at 1093 Commerce Park Drive, will focus on specialized facility and infrastructure projects in support of federal, municipal and higher education clients. The firm recognized the need for an Oak Ridge office as several new critical infrastructure projects were awarded to Burns & McDonnell within the area, including the Second Target Station (STS) project at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Backed by a nationwide network of more than 7,600 professionals, the Oak Ridge team will offer a full range of planning, design, construction, fabrication, environmental remediation and commissioning services. This is the firm’s second Tennessee location, alongside Chattanooga.

“Burns & McDonnell is excited to expand our reach and bring our service offerings closer to our clients in the Oak Ridge area,” says Phil Voegtle, leader of the Oak Ridge office at Burns & McDonnell. “We look forward to building a strong team with robust talent and capabilities to continue to deliver state-of-the-art facilities, infrastructure and other solutions for some of our country’s most critical needs.”

Burns & McDonnell ranks No. 9 among the Top 500 Design Firms in the U.S., according to Engineering News-Record, and ranks No. 3 in Government Sector Engineering in Building Design + Construction’s Giants 300.
