Maranowicz will oversee design-build projects ranging from major airport expansions to industrial manufacturing, food and consumer, aerospace, and surface transportation. He is a senior construction executive experienced in every facet of construction management, including preconstruction, estimating, design management, value engineering, scheduling and direct supervision of self-perform projects.

“We are thrilled to have John join our team in Chicago,” says Scott Newland, vice president and general manager of the Chicago region. “Burns & McDonnell has become a leader in delivering extremely complex projects under tight timelines with not-to-exceed budgets. Our integrated design-build model has been tested and proven, thanks to an exceptional team of Burns & McDonnell people representing all disciplines. John is a well-known performer in the design-build arena and is a proven business and construction leader. He gives us the capacity to take on even larger and more complicated projects.”

Before joining Burns & McDonnell, Maranowicz oversaw billion-dollar construction projects throughout the U.S. A few highlights include major logistics projects for Target Corp., seismic retrofits and renovations of several buildings on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, a range of projects at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and a major greenfield airport expansion for Sacramento, California.

“One of the things that has made Burns & McDonnell a national firm is our ability to deliver successful design-build projects in any industry and in every geographic region,” says Randy Griffin, president of the Burns & McDonnell Construction Design-Build division. “John is a great addition to what was already an outstanding team.”

Maranowicz received his bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from Iowa State University.
