DETROIT — Burns & McDonnell, a 100% employee-owned engineering, architecture and construction firm, has selected Lisa Janness to lead its Detroit office in the Great Lakes Region.

“Lisa has a bold vision for the continued growth of our Detroit office,” says Scott Newland, senior vice president and general manager for Burns & McDonnell in the Great Lakes Region. “Her deep experience with building and developing cross-functional teams, knowledge of the utility industry, and understanding of diverse project delivery systems will position the Detroit office for critical success in the future.”

Janness, a graduate of Michigan State University, joined Burns & McDonnell in 2017 and has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Previously, she led project controls employee-owners on the program management team in the region’s Construction Group. Janness also heads the Detroit office’s Network of Women employee resource group.

“I’m excited to lead and grow the Detroit office,” Janness says. “I look forward to continue expanding our presence in Michigan and helping our employee-owners in Detroit succeed through mentorship and development.”

The Detroit team of engineers and construction professionals focuses on various industries, including power generation, transmission and distribution, environmental services, commercial facilities, and critical infrastructure like transportation, water, and wastewater.
