KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Burns & McDonnell officers Jamey Bertram, Transmission & Distribution vice president, and Mark Van Dyne, Environmental Services vice president, have joined Engineers Without Borders USA’s (EWB-USA) Corporate Leadership Council. The Leadership Council is focused on providing strategic insight to the board of directors and supporting the vision of EWB-USA to create a world where every community has the capacity to sustainably meet basic human needs.

Bertram leads international project sales, development and delivery for the Transmission & Distribution Group at Burns & McDonnell. A civil engineer with nearly two decades of experience, he has taken on complex engineering and project leadership assignments for many of the largest utilities in North America.

“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting projects and initiatives in countries around the world and I am excited to be a part of an organization that tackles critical, global infrastructure challenges,” Bertram says. “I am honored to serve on EWB-USA’s Corporate Leadership Council and look forward to collaborating with industry leaders to support the organization’s international mission.”

With more than 25 years of experience, Van Dyne leads environmental marketing strategy and business development activities and provides professional environmental consulting services to a range of industries, including oil and gas, transmission and distribution and wind development.

“EWB-USA brings together talented professionals across the industry to truly change the world through sustainable, reliable solutions,” Van Dyne says. “I am thrilled to be a part of this diverse group of engineers and leaders striving to build more resilient communities.”

EWB-USA builds a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their needs and equip leaders to solve their most pressing challenges. Burns & McDonnell is a corporate partner of EWB-USA and has a strong base of employee-owners who volunteer with the organization — leading, designing and building projects to support the most vulnerable populations around the world.

“Burns & McDonnell and our corporate partners help us move forward, innovate and continue providing solutions and support to those who are most in need now, through the pandemic, and in the future,” says Cathy Leslie, CEO of EWB-USA. “We’re excited to have Jamey and Mark join our Corporate Leadership Council and look forward to our continued partnership with Burns & McDonnell.”

Burns & McDonnell employee-owner volunteers share how EWB-USA has made an impact on their lives.

Shawn Dalglish, structural engineer

“EWB-USA has provided me with critical thinking and management tools that I would not have been exposed to until later in my career and there is nothing better than being a part of something greater than yourself.”
