Burns & McDonnell Relaunches Its International Award-Winning Quarterly Magazine With High-Tech Touches
04/19/2022 2 minute read

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — BenchMark, a Burns & McDonnell magazine featuring projects, trends and insights in engineering and construction, is back as a digital-only publication after pausing during the COVID-19 pandemic. It consists of stories, interviews, videos and more featuring some of the industries’ top thought leaders on issues challenging businesses and communities throughout the country.

For the first time, BenchMark readers can become listeners through the smart audio feature. With the click of a button, you can choose to listen to the story versus reading it whether you are consuming the content from your desktop, laptop or mobile device.

The digital magazine is the next iteration for a publication that traces its roots to 1926, when the firm’s 13 engineers selected the name “BenchMark” because of the term’s meaning: something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured or judged. Today, the digital offering features stories, visuals and videos that capture the essence of what’s happening in our industries and showcase the steadfast solutions and people that it takes to make progress. The magazine — which is innovative, forward-thinking and solutions-driven — gives a voice to our customers, community members and thought leaders. It challenges convention, shares discoveries and creates resolutions.

BenchMark has been a staple in our firm’s history for a long time, and while we have veered to align more with the habits of the modern reader, our purpose remains the same: to educate and engage readers, ignite conversations and inspire connections with others facing similar challenges,” says Melissa Lavin, director of corporate marketing. “We are very excited to share this resource as we all work toward the same goal of improving our communities, critical infrastructure and quality of life.”

Each quarter, the IABC Gold Quill award-winning magazine takes on a theme that presents leading-edge dialogue on some of the world’s trending matters. For the first quarter of 2022, digital articles dissect details from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Story topics featured in this issue include:

  • How the infrastructure funding is allocated
  • Steps to take to obtain new funding opportunities
  • What the IIJA means in our industries
  • Labor shortage and materials management
  • Hydrogen implementation for the future of decarbonization

Read — or listen — and subscribe as we set the benchmark for industry insights. Also, watch our recent LinkedIn Live about how the IIJA will make an impact.
