MANHATTAN, Kansas — Burns & McDonnell has opened a Student Success Center at Kansas State University. Located at the Kansas State University Office Park in Manhattan, the space represents a significant step in nurturing the next generation of talent while supporting our commitment to education and community development.

The Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center will serve as an innovative hub for students pursuing careers in engineering, architecture, construction and related fields. By providing a wide range of resources and support services to enhance student's academic experiences and career development opportunities, Burns & McDonnell hopes to engage and develop students to become future employee-owners.

“Burns & McDonnell has a long-standing relationship with Kansas State University and has invested significantly in our students, faculty and facilities,” says Richard Linton, president of Kansas State University. “This center will be utilized to its fullest potential as we cultivate unique learning experiences for students and a strong talent pipeline for employers. Through the Student Success Center, we will be able to increase our impact on campus, in the state, and beyond.”

In 2023 Burns & McDonnell’s intern class included fifty-four students from Kansas State University. Many of those interns will continue to grow their skills this fall and beyond by working on projects during the school year. With 18 workstations, collaboration areas, and meeting space, the fully branded space not only allows current interns to work from the Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center but also showcases the culture to prospective interns.

“The Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center is not just a physical space, but an opportunity for us to offer valuable support and resources to help students excel academically, professionally and personally,” says Gabriel Hernandez, vice president in Transmission & Distribution at Burns & McDonnell. “We have over 500 employee-owners at Burns & McDonnell who are K-State alumni, and with the opening of the Student Success Center we hope to see that number continue to grow.”
